I’m very excited because the Little Koo Etsy shop is in progress and I hope to have it up and running by 1st March (that’s the deadline Tom has given me)! There’s loads still to do but in the last couple of weeks I’ve been working on my photography. I’ve read loads of articles on how to take photographs of craft items (and especially jewellery), but this video was definitely the most useful. I know very little about photography but am learning so this is very much a work in progress!
Anyway, as my lovely blog readers, you are privileged to get a sneak preview of some of my jewellery items, and some of the photos that will go on the Etsy shop. I would love to hear any comments and criticisms (preferably constructive) about both the jewellery and the photography.
The jewellery is made from semi-precious gemstones and Swarovski crystals, with sterling silver clasps and ear hooks. The aim of the designs are that they are simple enough to wear everyday with any type of outfit, but will add a little colour and sparkle to your day. I use wire-wrapped loops throughout to avoid the risk that the jewellery will come apart, I want it to be durable and something that you can come back to time after time.

Hi Rachel,
Best of luck on your soon to be open Etsy store! I wish you the best…if you need any tips let me know! Great stuff with great quality you have. =)
Thanks for your nice comment! Any tips relating to what’s most important at this stage would be welcome – there just seems to be so much to do! I find it hard to know what to prioritise.
Rachel
Beautiful! I think your photography looks great. They are really clear pictures. What post-production software do you use? It looks like it might be nice to increase the exposure a little. (Email if you want tips. I am not an expert but I’m learning. I usually use Lightroom and I know how to use iPhoto.) Alternately, use a brighter light or increase the exposure when you take the photos.
I eagerly await your shop opening. I love the pearl and chrysocolla earrings. Also, the fact that you are using sterling silver is good for me because one ear always gets infected if I wear cheap earrings.
Aw, thanks Sarah! There is no post-production on these photos but I have a trial version of Photoshop and am trying to get my head round that before deciding whether to buy it outright. I’ll keep playing around and see whether I can improve the photos using that. I did increase the exposure when taking the photos (taken outside on a cloudy day) but I’m a bit scared of going too far!
Reblogged this on Unique handmade designs.
Unfortunately I missed my deadline of 1st March, but I hope the Etsy shop will go live shortly. I’ll keep you updated!
